Whether you’re an individual, business owner, or a large company, we can handle all of your sandblasting needs. Outlined below is a list of services provided by B and W Metal Cleaners.

Sand Blasting

Sandblasting is a term still frequently used today, however the use of sand has been greatly reduced.  Many other forms of blast media can achieve better results with less harmful effects.  Our preferred blast media is the highest grade garnet available.  We choose this for its’ incredible results.  This high grade garnet provides a thorough, clean, deep, angular blast depth.   It does this while outlasting the less expensive available garnets making it far more cost effective.  This creates less waste, saves disposal fees and also saves time. Garnet is a mineral with terrific MSDS and is WorkSafe compliant.

Wheelabrating (Steel Shot Blasting)

Wheelblasting directly converts electric motor energy into kinetic abrasive energy by rotating a turbine wheel. The capacity of each wheel goes from approximately 60 kg per minute up to 1200kg/min. With these large amounts of accelerated abrasive, wheelblast machines are used where big parts or large areas of parts have to be derusted, descaled, deburred, desanded or cleaned in some form.

Stainless Steel Shot Blasting

We also offer stainless steel shot blasting, great for cleaning nonferrous metals. Small fabricated stainless steel parts such as kitchenware brackets etc. are good candidates for this process. Remove all bluing from welds and create a tough outer shell resistant to finger print stains. This machine can also strengthen parts such as bicycle cranks through peening.

Burn Off Oven

The burn off oven consists of an oven and an afterburner. The oven heats up the parts at a specified rate and, without direct flame impingement, breaks down the paint generating heat and smoke/gases. The afterburner then burns the smoke at 1400°F for a 1/2 second to produce carbon dioxide, water vapour, and heat. The afterburner temperature is not controlled but if the afterburner temperature exceeds 1600°F the afterburner excess temperature alarm is triggered and the afterburner and oven are shut down. The oven temperature is tightly monitored using a controller and if the oven temperature exceeds the set point by a set number (programmed at 7°F higher) the water sprinklers come on to cool the oven down. If the oven temperature rises above 900°F the oven excess temperature alarm is triggered and the oven and afterburners are shut down.ipbuilding, rail, and many others.

Glass Beading

Bead blasting is the process of removing surface deposits by applying fine glass beadsat a high pressure without damaging the surface. It is used to clean calcium deposits from pool tiles or any other surfaces, remove embedded fungus, and brighten grout color. It is also used in auto body work to remove paint.

Walnut Blasting

Crushed walnut shell is an excellent form of blast media for removing previously powder coated, greasy parts or items sensitive in nature. Coatings are easily removed while generating no heat reducing the risk of damage. Often this process is combined with glass beading, aluminum oxide or garnet blasting to achieve a surface ready for a new coating. This process will also make an old motorcycle engine covered with grease and oxidation appear like a one year old machine. Great for those restoring a vintage motorcycle. For steel or cast aluminum this process leaves no profile.

Aluminum Oxide Blasting

It is the most widely used abrasive grain in sand blast finishing and surface preparation because of its cost, longevity and hardness. Harder than other commonly used blasting materials, aluminum oxide grit powder penetrates and cuts even the hardest metals and sintered carbide.

Hot Water Pressure Washing

A pressure washer or power washer is a high-pressure mechanical sprayer used to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a pressure washer is expressed in gallons or litres per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable. The pressure, expressed in pounds per square inch, pascals, or bar (deprecated but in common usage), is designed into the pump but can be varied by adjusting the unloader valve. Machines that produce pressures from 750 to 30,000 psi (5 to 200 MPa) or more are available.


Removal of fat, grease, or oil from a surface, generally through the use of hot water, steam, alkaline cleaners, or organic solvents.


The goal of this type of finishing is to burnish, deburr, clean, radius, de-flash, descale, remove rust, polish, brighten, surface harden, prepare parts for further finishing, or break off die cast runners. The two main types of mass finishing are tumble finishing, also known as barrel finishing, and vibratory finishing. Both involve the use of a cyclical action to create grinding contact between surfaces. Sometimes the workpieces are finished against each other; however, usually a finishing medium is used. Mass finishing can be performed dry or wet; wet processes have liquid lubricants, cleaners, or abrasives, while dry processes do not. Cycle times can be as short as 10 minutes for nonferrous workpieces or as long as 2 hours for hardened steel.
